Most mattresses hide a chemistry set under their cover. Ours is transparent because there is nothing to hide — cut it open and the filling is pure wool the whole way down, enclosed in a woven cotton ticking.
Pure wool filling
Freshly carded Pakistani wool, packed into one dense, even filling. Airy and springy where your body first meets the bed, firm and supportive underneath — no sag, no hammocking, no memory of last night. It breathes and wicks moisture away all night.
Cotton ticking cover
A tightly woven, undyed cotton shell enclosing the wool. Firm to the hand, kind to the skin — the same cloth on all six sides. No synthetic backing, no plastic membrane.
Hand tufting binds the two together — strong cotton cord drawn through the full depth and knotted by hand, so the wool stays exactly where the craftsman placed it, for years.

Every Oona mattress passes through four pairs of hands before it reaches yours. The order below is the order of the work — it hasn't changed in a hundred years.

The carding bow does what no machine matches — every fibre teased open, full of air, freshly lofted for your order.

Built
Sheets of batting are laid crosswise, layer over layer, then compressed into a dense, even core inside the cotton ticking.
iv · tufting
Bound
Cotton cord is drawn through the full depth and knotted by hand — the quiet signature of a mattress built to be kept.
Best used on a slatted wooden frame or takht so the mattress airs from below — and give it a few hours of sun every month to keep the loft fresh.

Is a wool mattress too firm?
It is firmer than foam — deliberately. The packed wool filling supports the spine on one even plane, while its freshly carded loft gives softness where your body first meets the bed. Most sleepers coming from old spring or foam mattresses describe the first week as “different” and the second as “why did we wait so long.”
Will the filling compress over time?
All natural fillings settle — that's honesty, not a defect. Sun the mattress every month or two and rotate it seasonally and it will keep its loft for years. When it eventually firms up beyond your liking, our re-fluffing service opens the seam, re-cards the original wool, and rebuilds the mattress — we collect and return within Hyderabad; outside the city, any local nadaaf can re-card the wool the same way. You keep the same mattress for decades.
How do I care for it?
Give it sun. A few hours in direct sunlight every month refreshes the loft, drives out moisture, and keeps it naturally hygienic — the same routine every Sindhi household has followed forever. Use a washable cotton protector, rotate head-to-foot with the seasons, and spot-clean the ticking with a damp cloth.
Does it work on a bed frame? On the floor?
Both. It sits beautifully on slatted frames, on a takht, or directly on the floor in the traditional way. Because wool and cotton breathe, it doesn't trap moisture underneath the way foam does — though if you sleep on the floor, standing it against a wall now and then is good practice.
